Keeping up with the current in Compass Cay

Moving north up the Exuma Island Chain, we motored through a winding channel of crystal clear turquoise water to make our way into the desired anchorage.   We were the only 2 boats in the area.  It also happened to be Mother's Day.

Playing on the beach close to where we anchored.  The kids tried to sail but the current was stronger than the wind and tried to sweep them away.  They had to be rescued and towed back to the boat.

The snorkeling in this area was amazing....like being in our own little aquarium!

We took the dinghies around through the surf to check out this beautiful Crescent Beach, featured in Maggie's video.

We had the place to ourselves.

Unfortunately and sadly, the windward beaches always show signs of the immense plastic items that get lost at sea that never EVER degrade!  It is a common scene throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas.  I wish there was some other biodegradable product as great as plastic!

Dinghies of Fire by Maggie

It all started with the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games.  Mr. Bean was playing a part of Chariots of Fire on the piano and started to day dream.  He was running in slow motion on a beach with a bunch of men wearing white T-shirts (Chariots of Fire may come to those old enough to remember).  I suddenly thought, what a great idea it would be if we did the same thing but on a beach in the Bahamas!  So, here we are in the Bahamas (Crescent Beach, Compass Cay) on an exquisite beach filming the video.  I requested everyone to bring white T-shirts to the beach.  It was really fun being the executive director and producer for the day and had a little taste of what it's like to be filming a real movie: hard and tiring! You need to make each video clip exact and perfect, and that's what we did.  Fortunately, I only needed to take a few "takes" before it was perfect.
Special thanks to Erica Conway for volunteering to bring her tripod to put the video camera (with hair ties because we didn't have the proper attachment) and my mom for helping me with ideas and all of the crew on s/v Anything Goes and Patronus! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
